    The Skyliner Express chairlift at Mt. Bachelor will be out of commission for “an indefinite period” after crews on Wednesday discovered damage to major components that likely will have to be remanufactured.

    President and GM John McLeod provided the update on the ski area’s website, saying when the popular lift went down just before Christmas, they knew it would be a complex fix but believed the damage was limited to standard, available components.

    “Had this been the case, we had all the parts necessary to have Skyliner back in action for the upcoming weekend,” he said.

    Mt. Bachelor announced Monday their new app for iOS and Android is now available for download.

    The app provides real-time alerts sharing weather, chairlift openings, and lift wait times resort-wide.

    Local artist, Mona Daly has won the 2017 logo contest for the U.S. Bank Pole Pedal Paddle.   She will receive a Commemorative Plate specially designed by Earhart Studios, logo wear and a $500 check from MBSEF. The event is the largest fundraiser for the Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation, a non-profit corporation to support and promote alpine, cross country and snowboard race training for juniors.  This year’s event will be May 20, 2017.
