St. Charles says the nurses — which represent all four hospitals in Central Oregon — are nominated by patients, families and colleagues. A committee at St. Charles determines the recipients.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Policymakers for the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality on Monday approved a rule that prohibits the sale of new gasoline-powered passenger vehicles in Oregon by 2035.
The effort comes as Oregon plans to cut climate-warming emissions by 50% by 2035 and by 90% by 2050, The Oregonian/OregonLive reported. The transportation sector accounts for nearly 40% of greenhouse gas emissions in Oregon.
The rule is based on vehicle emission standards California adopted in August. The standards require car manufacturers to sell a certain percentage of zero-emission vehicles — electric cars, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles — as part…

The Storm defeated Wilsonville 35-28 in Hillsboro Friday night to take the Oregon 5A high school football title.
It was a tight game throughout and the teams went back and forth in second half before Summit was able to pull away to a 35-21 lead with just over three minutes to play.
Wilsonville scored in just a few seconds to make it a one score game, but Summit was able to play keep away in the final minutes to secure the title.

Storm brings rain and snow to Cedar Creek Fire

Fire crews working the months old Cedar Creek Fire have caught a break with the help from a strong storm that’s blown into the Oregon.
Saturday’s fire update listed accumulating snow instead of more acres burned.
“With much lower temperatures, higher relative humidity, and considerable precipitation expected over the next few days, fire activity is expected to decrease substantially, with the possibility of 3 – 5 inches of snow in the fire area. However, some smoldering will continue in the fire area,” the update read.
