Cascade Country Mornings with David Miller, Debby Bever, RL Garrigus, and the rest of Central Oregon!

David started his Central Oregon radio career as host of “The Party Crowd” on KSJJ 25 years ago. Now he has returned to host The KSJJ Wake-up Show every weekday morning 5am-10am. When not making radio er….um….magic, you’ll find David, a lifelong musician, performing with several bands around Bend and the NW. A big fan of movies, video games, and all things pop-culture, growing up was never big on David‘s list of accomplishments. So he is perfect for radio!

The Outdoorsman Tip of the Day with RL Garrigus - 8:10am M-F

On December 31st, 2024 RL officially retired from full time radio, but he still joins in the fun from time to time, and hosts the weekday segment, Outdoorsman Tip of the Day that airs each day, Monday through Friday at approximately 8:10am.

R.L. is well known as an avid hunter, outdoorsman and wildlife advocate.  R.L. supports a variety of conservation groups including the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation where he has been a part of the Central Oregon RMEF Committee for over 30 years, and the John Day RMEF committee for 25+ years.

R.L. has won numerous local, state, and national awards for his news coverage and community involvement. He is in the Oregon Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame as a 2004 Heritage Broadcaster of the Year. Over his 45-year career he has written and produced over 400,000 newscasts.  The Bend City Council and Deschutes County Commissioners honored R.L. on January 22nd, 2004, by proclaiming the day to be R.L. Garrigus Day for his service to the Central Oregon Community.

Brian weekdays 10a-3p

Brian

The son of two U.S. Marines, Brian traveled the world as a kid, but calls Arizona home (or at least, where he grew up). Brian’s interest in radio broadcasting started as young as 2nd grade, when he used to call in and win contests and request songs…all the time!  In 1993 Brian started his radio career at a small country radio station in Mountain Home, Idaho.  From there, his career has taken him to Klamath Falls, Oregon, Sun Valley, Idaho, and Aspen and Vail, Colorado, along with a few different stints here in Bend.  Brian’s love of all things music has enabled him to fit into any radio format across the dial. From country to rock, and pop to adult contemporary, Brian’s done them all.  When he’s not on the air, you’ll find Brian enjoying all the great live music options in Central Oregon.  You’ll also find him on the golf course in the summer. Eventually, Brian hopes to be good enough on his guitar to perform at local pubs and taprooms.

"Your Duke" Dave Sholin Weekdays 3 - 7 PM

Award-winning broadcaster Dave Sholin enjoys a reputation as innovator, mentor, programmer and industry executive. Sholin received his first Program Director of the Year while a student and PD of San Francisco State University’s campus radio station. Shortly after graduation he began his professional career at KLIV/San Jose. Sholin helped develop a new format, and within six months it became one of Silicon Valley’s highest rated stations.

The ratings success of both stations prompted KFRC/San Francisco to “hire away the competition.” In his first year at KFRC, Dave was named Major Market Music Director of the Year at the Gavin Report Convention in Kansas City. During Dave’s tenure at KFRC the station was named Billboard’s Major Market Station of the Year seven consecutive years.

RKO Radio then promoted Dave to National Music Director, overseeing the playlists and music libraries for stations around the country.

Sholin returned to San Francisco to join The Gavin Report and later revamped it into the Gavin magazine. While at Gavin, Dave continued his involvement as an on-air personality and program director of KFRC. He also hosted weekly syndicated radio shows including “Countdown USA” for Westwood One and “The Insider” for Premiere Radio.

Dave was the Vice President of Promotion for Island Records & at Capitol Records. Some years later, CBS Radio decided to relaunch San Francisco’s KFRC. The first person they contacted was Dave who would go on to host the station’s morning drive radio show.

Dave is a regular guest on KGO San Francisco on the Ronn Owens’ show. In 1995 Sholin was named a charter member of the radio section at the Rock ‘N Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland. He was the Rockwell Award recipient at the Conclave, a national radio and record convention. In October 2008 Dave was inducted into The Bay Area Radio Hall Of Fame.

Additionally, Granger and his wife Amber Smith started The River Kelly Fund to bring awareness and invest in children in need, arts and education, wildlife preservation, military, veteran and first responder assistance, donor affiliations, and many more organizations in honor of their son River Kelly Smith. Taking all of these experiences and channeling them into good, Smith released his 10th studio album called Country Things, which ultimately showcases the man, the father, the performer and bona fide artist Smith has become.
