    Bree’s first book Pickets and Deadmen was about her account of being a climbing ranger at age 21 on Mount Rainier. Now 10 years later, Bree Loewen has become a wife, a mother, and a leader of Seattle Mountain Rescue (SMR), a volunteer-based search-and-rescue operation. She ponders the question of why she continues to head into the backcountry, confronting danger, risk, and, often, death.

    Bree feels like the job of search and rescue suits her uniquely. Competent yet nurturing, her peers feel like if they ever needed to be rescued they’d want her to do the job. It’s not an easy task especially when what she does is so physical and emotionally…

    Today, Saturday, September 9, 2017 starting at 11:00 a.m it’s Mountain Clean Up Day at Mt. Bachelor. I’m sure we have all accidentally dropped a napkin, chapstick, GoPro, cell phone, or Rolex while playing on the mountain. This is a chance to help clean her up. Mt. Bachelor will provide the trash bags and offer all participants a free ride up the Pine Marten lift. From there, you will be assigned an area to hike back down to West Village while collecting litter along the way.   • Santa Cruz Demo Day at Wanoga Hosted By Pine Mountain Sports

    The Santa Cruz demo truck is coming to Bend! Pine Mountain Sports is hosting this event and there will be the Chameleon, Tallboy, Hightower, Hightower LT, Bronson, and 5010 available for you to demo at Wanoga – all at no charge! More info Here!

    This Santa Cruz mountain bike demo day will be at Wanoga Sno-Park from 10-3. Demos rides are free, but bring your driver’s license and credit card (for deposit) along with your helmet and pedals.
