    The Powderhound Preview & Fundraiser, Pine Mountain Sports 20th annual welcome to winter party, is tonight Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at the Tower Theatre in downtown Bend. The Powderhound Preview & Fundraiser is Central Oregon’s winter film festival that’s comprised entirely of local skiers and boarders and their films and slideshows.

    Fear of failure can stop all sorts of adventures before they even start, but what if failing is the best part? In 2017, the female duo of Rickie Cotter and Lee Craigie raced the Tour Divide together, a 2745 mile self-supported mountain bike race from Canada to the Mexican border. Shot entirely using a Go Pro and an iPhone, this is a heart-warming and funny documentary about the journey of two friends.

    Divided was an official selection of the Banff Film Festival in 2018, and the Cascadia Adventure Film Festival in 2019.

    The ‘Know Before You Go’ series is a great way to learn more and keep acquainted with the backcountry community here in Bend.

    Tuesday Nov 19th at Immersion Brewing starting at 6pm.

    Know Before You Go is a FREE basic avalanche awareness presentation aimed at highlighting introductory concepts and tools for traveling in avalanche terrain.

    Learn about the destructive power of avalanches, safety equipment, how people get in trouble, and the basics of how to avoid them. In line with COAC’s mission of increasing avalanche awareness and safety in Central Oregon, this presentation will provide a good foundation for learning about backcountry travel or is an excellent refresher for more experienced backcountry users.

    1 session every month, November-March. More

    The Meissner Community is hosting work parties this fall and they need people to help prepare for winter and have a bit of fun getting to know each other. There will be cutting & stacking firewood party on Saturday November 9th. Starts at 9:00 am and ends at 1:00 pm. Meet at the lodge at the Virginia Meissner Sno-Park.
