    Oregon brewery received Sustainability Leadership Award in the international 2016 Sustainability Awards Program

    December 13, 2016 – Bend, Oregon – The Business Intelligence Group named Deschutes Brewery as a global sustainability leader today as part of the 2016 Sustainability Awards program. The Sustainability Awards honor those people, teams and organizations who have made sustainability an integral part of their business practice or overall mission.

    Serena Dietrich, sustainability manager for the brewery, said, “Going the extra mile to do the right thing wherever possible is built into our standard operating procedure. Our entire team is always thinking of ways to use fewer resources, by doing everything from implementing new recycling programs to thoughtful management of our water usage.”


  • Hoodoo Ski Area opens TODAY with deepest base since 2001-02 season!

    It’s deep and steep at Hoodoo!

    Sisters, Ore. –  Hoodoo Ski Area will open today, Thursday, Dec. 15, with a base of approximately 61 inches, the deepest mid-December base since the 2001-2002 ski season. An additional 6-12 inches of snow are predicted in the current forecast through Thursday evening. Hoodoo has received 91.4 inches of cumulative snowfall since Oct. 1.

    “We are excited about the great beginning of this new snow season. Currently our base is around five feet, which is over a foot higher than the base has been at this time of the season during the last decade,” said Chuck Shepard, Hoodoo’s owner.

  • 4th Annual Central Oregon Winter Beer Festival

    GoodLife Brewing Company is hosting the 4th Annual Central Oregon Winter Beer Festival (event info here) in the GoodLife Courtyard on Saturday, December 10th, 2016 from 2pm-9pm. Last years festival had 20 breweries involved, and this year we are hoping to have all of the Central Oregon breweries, both new and old. This annual event is held the second Saturday in December at GoodLife Brewing, and we look forward to growing it in the years to come. We are happy to announce Bigfoot Beverages as our Title Sponsor again in 2016.

    Mt. Bachelor (Bend, Ore.) announced today that its new $6.5 million Cloudchaser lift and 13 new runs will open on Friday, December 16, pending a successful load test next week.

    World War II Stories: A Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Commemoration today at the High Desert Museum at 6 pm

    Join KSJJ 102.9‘s RL Garrigus at the The High Desert Museum to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor and hear stories from the front lines of World War II. The Central Oregon chapter of the Band of Brothers has collected stories from WWII veterans that highlight the challenges they faced and the courage they demonstrated. These stories will bring to life some of the most well-known events from the war. The evening will also include a tribute to the men and women in our community who served during WWII.
