Q. Rumor has it Pangea was inspired by McMenamins
A. The rumor about being inspired by McMenamins probably came from the fact that my brother and bar manager used to work for McMenamins however when we designed Pangaea, we took inspiration from several other historic old houses that had been turned into cafes/lounges/bars, primarily the ones my wife and I used to visit in Portland. We added the board game/Dungeons and Dragons concept because we are massive board game fans and realized while there were places to buy games, there were not any fun places to play those games in a relaxed setting with access to food and drinks.
Q What brings you to Redmond?
A. My wife and I moved to Central Oregon from Portland in 2017 to experience the great amenities that living in the High Desert has to offer. We fell in love with the region and when a job opportunity arose, we jumped at the chance to move.
Q. How did your name come about?
A. Pangaea is the name of the Triassic Era super-continent when all of Earth’s landmass was connected. To us, this symbolizes unity across all peoples of the world and we want Pangaea Guild Hall to be a welcoming place for all. A guild hall is a place where like minded folks meet to discuss their craft or trade. Anyone with a passion for board games or tabletop role playing games will find Pangaea Guild Hall to be a place where they can relax and enjoy a game among friends.
Q. You must be a game player yourself?
A. Yes, we are avid game players and have a fairly large library of board games we play with friends and family. Some favorites include, “Betrayal at House on the Hill”, “Everdell” and “Wingspan”. I also run Dungeons and Dragons campaigns for my friends!
