Essentials for Backcountry Skiing Hosted By Pine Mountain Sports

Posted on in category Skiing & Snowboarding

Transitioning from alpine skiing to the backcountry can be a rewarding but daunting endeavor. To help with the gear learning curve, Pine Mountain Sports is hosting an evening with SCARPA and G3 Genuine Guide Gear to delve into the equipment required to transition from inbounds skiing and into the backcountry.

Topics to be covered*:
• Traditional alpine skis VS backcountry skis
• Different boot options available
• Choosing the proper skins
• Basic safety tools required

All participants will go home with a free G3 ski strap, a key piece to your backcountry gear kit.

There will also be a silent auction benefitting Cascade Youth & Family Center. It’s a great chance to bid on some sweet outdoor gear from brands like G3, MSR, Osprey and Therm-A-Rest. Winners can pay for and take home their items at the end of the night via cash/check/charge and every dollar goes to Cascade Youth & Family Center!

Event is free and refreshments will be provided.
Space is limited, so call the shop to RSVP. 541-385-8080.

Wednesday Oct 30th. Doors open: 7pm.  Presentation starts: 7:30P

*This event will be largely focused on the gear required and not around avalanche and snow condition awareness. Check the NWAC or the Central Oregon Avalanche Association website (coavalanche.org) to find out more information on avalanche safety.
