Assistance League of Bend is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization making a difference in the lives of children and adults dealing with poverty, homelessness, and cancer in Deschutes County. We serve the community through a number of philanthropic programs which include new school clothes for students living in poverty, memory books for foster children, personal care items for low-income seniors, and handmade hats for cancer patients and the homeless.
During this pandemic the incredibly generous volunteers of Assistance League of Bend continue serving those in need in our communities. Although some of our programs are on hold due to COVID-19, we continue to adapt to meet essential needs in our communities. Our dedicated volunteers have been making personal protective gear like masks and emergency room hats for hospital workers, in addition to the hats they make for cancer patients.
We are also reaching out to community leaders to identify critical needs, particularly with regard to Operation School Bell®. In addition to the clothing we normally provide to school age children in the fall, we anticipate there may be other challenges facing these families.
Our largest fundraisers have been postponed due to the pandemic which will greatly impact our ability to fund Operation School Bell. You can make a difference. A private family foundation has generously committed to match donations between $100 and $5,000 up to $20,000 for Operation School Bell. Please donate today so we can continue to meet the needs of these vulnerable children.
