Coalition For The Deschutes - The Digital Village: An E-river Runs Through It
We have many great nonprofits in our community doing so much good work. Many offer educational opportunities for you and our children during this down time. The Coalition For the Deschutes newsletter shares a photo tour and video of the Deschutes from photographer and writer Tim Palmer, along with other stories. These can be a good resource for learning and viewing some of the beautiful places around us.
Below is an excerpt from the newsletter. Consider signing up and staying tuned in to what they are doing for our river and our community. Coalition For The Deschutes Website.
Tim Palmer, whose photography is featured below, is the award-winning author of 29 books about rivers, conservation, and adventure travel. I had the great honor to meet Tim for the first time a few years ago when he came to Central Oregon to speak at a Coalition event. We stayed in touch, and when I reached out to Tim recently to ask if he would share some photos for a newsletter, he didn’t hesitate.
Over the years, I’ve grown to appreciate not only Tim’s generosity, but also his grace and ability to see things whole. In his book Rivers of Oregon, Tim writes: “Stunning in their beauty, essential to wildlife, vital for the workings of whole ecosystems, and critical to every person, farm, and town, our rivers are truly lifelines.” As a river advocate, Tim reminds us that we are all connected: to rivers, to the land, and to each other.
The photos further down in this newsletter are from Tim’s books: Field Guide to Oregon Rivers and Rivers of Oregon. In this video, Tim takes us along on a journey through the enchanting waters of Oregon’s Wild Rivers Coast. With just a canoe, a camera, and an old van, Tim has found a way to share their beauty.
