Big Wave Challenge 2021 April 17 -25

Posted on in categories Event , Skiing & Snowboarding

The 10th year of the Big Wave Challenge is happening starting Saturday! The event has been reimagined and continues to be inspired by a passion for surf and snow by Mt. Bachelor and Bend local, legendary big-wave surfer Gerry Lopez. Aloha spirit, stoke, and the desire to raise money for worthy causes, (Pat Malendoski), has always been the driving belief for this one-of-a kind event. This year will continue to carry that sentiment with access for all!  MORE INFO HERE.

The Big Wave Challenge supports beneficiary, Pat Malendoski. Pat held an instrumental role in the early Big Wave Challenge days, applying his special terrain-park creation skills to building waves out of snow, producing a unique type of course that made the BWC such an exceptional affair. Five years ago, he was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma and has been battling this cancerous brain tumor. 100% of the proceeds from the Aloha bags and online auction will be donated in support.

Heading into the event’s 10th year, Big Wave Challenge (BWC) invites snowboarders AND skiers to come together for a one-week open session on the Big Wave Course on Midway Run, off Pine Marten Lift in West Village. The BWC course will be open and tuned daily starting Saturday, April 17 – Sunday, April 25.
