  • Intro to Outdoor Rock Climbing Clinic at Smith Rock

    Hosted by She Moves Mountains, this intro outdoor climbing clinic we will teach the basic skills required to climb outside. This is a great way to get started at the one of the birth places of modern sport climbing – Smith Rock – which is right in our #backyardbend.

    There are three main skills we will teach throughout the day: tying into the rope using a figure-eight follow through, belaying a climber on top-rope, and movement skills on the rock.

    After teaching the basics we will set up multiple ropes to provide each climber the opportunity to safely practice their new skills.

  • 2018 BIG Wave Challenge Beneficiary

    The annual Gerry Lopez Big Wave Challenge is happening this weekend April 14 & 15 at Mt. Bachelor. This is a super fun low key community event that also raises money for charitable causes. Brain cancer survivor, Pat Malendoski, is the beneficiary of this year’s event.

    We are truly grateful to be able to share this inspiring story of our community doing great things for others.  Remember, when life gets a little rough – “Keep Paddling”.

    2018 VertFest is happening this Saturday April 7th at Mt. Bachelor. This is fast becoming the largest national backcountry festival in America. Come celebrate winter and backcountry culture with a full day comprised of races, clinics, demos, beer and fiesta.

    This is a multi-stop mountain festival dedicated to raising the level of snow safety education and stoke for backcountry enthusiasts, and supporting the efforts of avalanche centers everywhere.     Skimum shared this short video with us to learn what it takes to develop the skills to hit big air. There are certified freestyle coaches to help kids learn the progression to hit bigger and bigger jumps and its important to get the proper coaching and progression before attempting large jumps. Good reminder as we watch the Hella Big Air today at Mt. Bachelor.
